Are you worried about having a heart attack or diabetes?
Did you know that there are nearly 2.7 million people living with heart disease in the UK? And that every 6 minutes someone dies of a heart attack? Many of these deaths occur before a person reaches hospital or is seen by a doctor.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in England, however, it is often preventable. Early identification of imbalances in the blood that cause heart disease can have a major impact on the risk and lead to stopping the disease from progressing. Routine cholesterol tests do not identify the vast majority of people who are at risk of having a heart attack. There are now much more refined blood tests that can enable an expert to gain a clearer picture of whether or not you have or are at risk from heart disease.
As overweight and obesity become more common one in ten people in the UK will develop diabetes, and diabetes is a big gives a big risk of heart attacks, as well as kidney problems and bad sight. Early identification of the risk of diabetes or of early diabetes allows treatment measures that greatly reduce risk of diabetes and its consequences.

• 20 minute appointment involving a resting ECG test and blood tests
• Blood tests sent to a local lab
• Resting ECG and blood test results reviewed by Prof James Scott
• Telephone call back with results
• Appointment booked with Prof James Scott to discuss further tests and treatment options if necessary (not all patients will need a follow up appointment).
The Heart Disease Screening Test enables Prof James Scott to gain a clearer picture of whether you have, or are at risk from, heart disease. The test can detect over 90% of people who have coronary heart disease. Many of these patients will not experience any symptoms of their disease until they have a heart attack, which is why heart disease is often referred to as" The Silent Killer."
